The ATC currently has three gliders in service. These are the Viking, Vigilant (powered), and the Janus. The first stages of glider training are GIC 1, 2 & 3, the levels are age dependent. Cadets may then apply for a Gliding Scholarship. This is for cadets aged 16 years and above. The course can be completed in one week, or run over several weekends.

A 16 year-old can complete a gliding scholarship and fly solo (without an instructor in the glider) before even being old enough to drive a car.
