During the October half term, 65 cadets attended the squadron’s annual camp at Longmoor Army camp. The week was jam-packed with activities for the cadets such as assault courses, leadership exercises, shooting; both L98 and No.8; firing on a three million pound small arms trainer, a trip to the historic naval harbour at Portsmouth, so close to the Trafalgar anniversary celebrations and section visits to RAF Odiham as well as the highlight of the week for many, a flight in a Chinook helicopter. Described by one cadet as “absolutely amazing” the flight was no mean feat due to several Chinook helicopters being deployed to Pakistan to assist in the humanitarian effort there.
During the camp, an interflight competition was run based on different events throughout the week, such as sports, initiative exercises and orienteering. The results are as follows.
1st Place: Two Flight
2nd Place: One Flight
3rd Place: Three Flight
Overall the week was a resounding success, providing the cadets with a fun week as well as an insight into what military life is like.
