An action packed weekend as told by Cpl Andy Webb:
"On Friday, cadets from 241 Squadron deployed to Crowborough Army Training Area, Pippingford Park, to improve their basic military skills (personal admin and the like) and night navigation.
The weekend started well; certainly those of us enjoying the roller-coaster ride of bumps, rattles and shakes in the land rover enjoyed listening to the Prodigy as we delighted in friendly banter on the short journey to the training area.
After an initial night navigation exercise, the rest of the Friday night concentrated upon establishing our campsite and then getting our heads down for the night. A relaxed beginning to the weekend was established by a good night’s sleep, and plenty of admin time for a warm brekky in the morning. Most of the Saturday was put to good use learning new and more interesting core military skills such as micro navigation and leadership. These new skills were then put to the test on Saturday evening with even more challenges to come on Sunday morning.
All in all, we learnt a great deal about ourselves and each other, whilst at the same time learning advanced new skills which will help us in our Air Cadet careers. It was a challenging yet highly rewarding experience and my only hope is that after the great success of this exercise more people will be enticed to come along to the next one."
