5 Section win the McGrath Trophy

Cpl John Dawson led 5 Section to victory at the Annual McGrath Trophy competition at Crowborough Training Camp on Sunday 27 Apr. The McGrath Trophy is named after Sqn Warrant Officer Norman McGrath, a veteran of World War Two who served on the Sqn for over 50 years.

The competition, the Premier Military Skills Event that is run by the Sqn and sees the Sqn’s 3 main Flights 9 Sections compete with each other in Drill, Shooting, Command Tasks, First Aid, Orienteering and General Service Knowledge, as well as having the opportunity to use the Camp Assault Course.

Whilst 10 Section, lead by Cpl Darren Southcott, achieved the same score as 5 Section, 5 Section clinched victory as a result of having a full team of 8 compared to 10 Sections 6.

Over 95 Staff and Cadets attended the competition, two service helpers coming down from RAF Boulmer for the event!

Preperation starts tomorrow for the 2009 Event!
