66 and going Strong!

The Sqn held its annual Dinner and Dance on the Anniversary of its 66th year of foundation in 1941.

The Police Club at Chigwell was the venue for the Social Event of the Year as over 140 Cadets, Staff, Guests and ex cadets attended and danced the night away.

Special guests where Sqn Ldr Dave Hale, Deputy to OC London Wing, and Fg Off Lana Peters RAF, an ex cadet & CI on the Sqn who is now a ATC Officer in the RAF.

Cpl Sean Larkin was Mr Vice and Plt Off Holly Brogden-Knight was the President of the Mess Committee, and organised the whole event with Sgt Caroline Dent.

The Sqn "Dined Out" staff and cadets who have left over the last year, including Plt Off Jason Reuben and Sgt Andy Webb, who are now Officer Cadets in training at RAF College Cranwell, ICWO Paul Fothergill who is off to Australia for 3 months, and Flt Lt Simon Grant who has been on the Sqn for 11 years. The effects of his working and family commitments, as well as training to be a commercial pilot have left him unable to give the time to the unit that he wished. We hope to see him back in a few years time as he has been a major player in the Sqns success over the last decade.

The Sqn wishes all those who have left good luck and trust they will keep in touch with us as they pursue their careers.

Toasts were also made in memory of Royal Marine Tom Curry, Ethel McGrath, and absent friends, some of whom are on active service. The final toast was to the memory of Warrant Officer Norman McGrath, as is now Sqn tradition.

The photo shows Simon recieving a picture of a Spitfire (which his grandfather worked on during World War 2) from Sqn Ldr Jerry Godden.
