A busy weekend

Over the weekend of 11 – 13 October the Squadron deployed over 80 personel to Crowborough Training Camp in Sussex for Recruit and Field Training. The Field Training Course was run by Sgt Jack Chavner with the cadet learning to live under basic shelters (bashas) and carry out patrols and taskings whilst acting tactically. The challenging environment was enlivened by rain on the Saturday. The exercise finsihed off with the customary march/run back to the camp over Ashdown Forest.

Meanwhile the cadets who joined the Sqn in March and June were undergoing recruit training run by WO Lee Morris, with Drill, Basic Field Training, a strecher race, completing the camp obstacle course, a night exercise and bridge crossing and steeplechase on the Sunday, as well as two runs starting at 0600 each day, with the cadets earning their coverted Sqn “Black Witch” flash to be worn on their CS95 clothing. The photos show cadets on the rather muddy obstacle course and the strecher run. The weather was chnageable with good weather on the Saturday but heavy rain on the Sunday but that did not stop the exercise or the efforts of the cadets to strive to achieve their Black Witch.

Meanwhile 4 cadets where with the OC at Pirbright Ranges competing in the first Air Cadet Skill at Arms Competition in preperation for CISSAM later in the month. The Team was placed a creditable 3rd overall with Cpl Max Lungu comming second in the individual competition after firing 4 searate competitions involving firing at differnt distances and practises including fire and movement. Additionally Cdt Snow was gaining a Wing Blue at the Region Football competition.
