For the second year running Cadet Warrant Officer Alex Dutch has been selected as the top female cadet in London and South East Region and now goes forward to represent us in the Dacre Broach competition to find the best female in the UK. Alex now faces the final selection process 5 cadets from the other 5 Regions. To be chosen is no mean achievement; it is the culmination of a cadet career in which the individual has achieved above and beyond the normal achievements offered by the ATC, and where they have put a significant amount back into the Corps, Sqn and local community. Alex holds a Flying Scholarship, Gliding Wings, Gold DoE Award, BTEC in Public Services, is a Cadet 100, has passed the prestidgeous Junior Leader Course, and is currently an instructor on that course, has completed an IACE exchance to Israel and has been a Cadet Ambassador for the Cadet 150 Events in 2010, meeting the Queen, Prince Charles and giving a presentation to Parliament, but to give a full resume of her achievements would take more space than available! The Sqn Commander, Sqn Ldr Jerry Godden said “this is a signal honour for the Squadron to achievea second Regional nomination for Alex. This shows the quality of the cadets that are in the Squadron and what young people can achieve in the ATC if they are prepared to take full advantage of its opportunities. She is an excellent example of the best of British youth”.
