Thirty-four Cadets and five staff experienced a week at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire during the Sqn annual camp.
Brize Norton is home to the RAF’s strategic transport fleet of C17 Globemasters and Tristars and the Air Refuelling fleet of VC10’s. During the camp the cadet were able to see what life in the RAF is like and carry out visits to sections as diverse as Air Traffic Control and Engineering, as well as visiting all three flying squadrons on the base.
All of the cadets also had the opportunity to fire the L98 or No 8 Rifles and fly in the Tutor aircraft at Colerne, as well as completing their RAF Swimming Proficiency Award.
Some cadets were also able to visit Chalgrove Airfield, when Martin Baker, who make ejection seats, test their products.
The Best Cadet of the Camp was won by Cadet Bianca Nicklen, and Cpl Jay Bhadresha led his Section to victory in the Inter Section Competition.
Special thanks are due to Flt Lt Singh from 338 Sqn who came to camp with us to assist with staffing.
