Annual Presentation Evening

On the 12 December the Sqn held its annual presentation evening at Trinity School. An occasion to showcase the unit to local dignitaries and parents, as well as present the cadets with various awards achieved during 2012, this years guests included Colonel Hall, the former Lord Lieutenant for London representative in the London Borough of Redbridge and a long time supporter of the Squadron.

The cadets gave presentations on the years activities, with CWO Izzy Hulbert  giving her take on her trip to Australia with the Air Cadets, Cpl Stephan Outzen on his Gliding Scholarship and CWO Chris Raj on his expedition to Kenya with the John Thornton Foundation via the Junior Leaders Course. There were also a number of static displays and the Civilian Committee provided refreshments.

Colonel Hall warded a number of Bronze and Silver DoE Badges, First Aid Certificates, Flying & Gliding Scholarships,Jack Petchy Awards, Leadership Course Certificates, Public Service BTECs worth 4 GCSEs and Aviation BTECs worth 2 GCSE’s. The Poppy Shield for the highest amount of money raised for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal to Cdt George Leonti for raising ¬£270, the third year he has won this award.

The Best Sportsperson Trophy, the Tom Curry Trophy, was then presented to Cdt Billie James for her achievements in sport, the Best Exam Results was Cdt Jameel Campbell, Best Junior Shot, Cpl Stepehn Raj, and Best Senior Shot Sgtl Max Lungu. The Best Recruit was Cdt Oliver Kretovs the Best Cadet was Cdt Jameel Campbell and the Best Flight was won by 2 Flight (the right hand photo showing the Flight Management Team!).
