Over the half term week cadets and staff attended camp at Beckingham Army Training Camp in Lincolnshire. However, this was not a Field Exercise but a base with which to interact with the RAF at a number of bases.
Organised by Plt Off Brogden-Knight as a project since last February the camp saw cadets visit:
RAF College Cranwell – College Hall, Officer and Aircrew Training Unit (leadership tasks with Regular Officers), 25m Live Firing of the L98 Rifle, Swiming, Bowling, Air Traffic Control, and Fire Section
Flying was also carried out in 45 Sqn King Airs
RAF Cottesmore – 1 Sqn Harriers, hosted by Flt Lt Chris Pearson, and ex CWO from 241 Sqn
RAF Wittering – High Ropes and DCCT Range (hosted by WO Alan Wiggs, another ex 241 Cadet and member of staff!)
Wattisham Army Base – Sea King flying with 22 Sqn
A Night Exercise on Beckingham Training Area on a very cold night, which saw some superb acting by Plt Off Brogden-Knight and Sgt Cheah as simulated casualties!
and not forgetting the flying with a 78 Sqn Merlin!
The camp was an outstanding success with all cadets achieving a huge ammount of training and activities; this was an hands on camp with the emphasis on the cadets getting "hands on"
Cadet Kiran Babla commented "the week was AMAZING! I’ve never been on an Annual Camp before and I loved this one!"
