3 Teams from the Sqn were selected to attend the Inter Service Cadet Rifle Meet from 12 -15 Jul at the national Shooting Centre at Bisley. This is the most prestigious shooting event of the cadet calendar and saw 116 Teams from the Sea, Army and Air Cadets competing for the Cadet 100 Award and other trophies. In addition there were teams present from the Australian and Canadian Cadet Forces.

The Cadet 100 is awarded to the top 100 shots of the competition, out of the around 500 cadets firing in the event.

The L81 7.62 Target Rifle is used at ranges of 300, 500 and 600 yards, and the cadets also shot in the Bisley V Competition at 900 and 1000 yards.

This year was our most successful year yet, with IFS Tom Burgess and Cdt Ben Filer winning 100’s, coming 30th and 24th respectively, and Cdt Ben Filer was also selected to shoot for the Corps Team in the Somerset Cup on Sunday, the second time a cadet from 241 Sqn has been so honoured. Ben came 4th in the ATC Team in the shoot and was awarded a Corps Blue as well as his 100 Badge. CI Dave Grant coached Ben in the Corps Competition for the second time, entrenching his position as one of the Top Coaches in the Corps.

Cpl Rhys Reeves-Roberts, Cpl Biancan Nicklen and Cdt Adam Sinclair were all within 3 points of the 100 (dodgy marking robbing Rhys and nerves robbing Bianca and Adam) the first time the Sqn has been so close to this many 100s.

We await next year with anticipation!

In addition the A Team came 17th in the Frankfort Cup and 14th in the Watts Bowl – although we were 4th in the ATC for both of these competitions.
