After intensive training by CI Steven Hawes (always something to remember!) cadets who are in the Duke of Edinburghs Scheme took part in their Bronze Expedition in the wilds of Essex over the last weekend. Centred around Thaxted the cadets completed a overnight expedition carrying all the equipment needed to camp and survive an English summer weekend.
Although the weekend started wet and cool it soon cleared up and by saturday afternoon the sun was out in force! The weather on sunday was cooler which assisted with navigation and all of the cadets completed the exped phase successfully. They now have to produce an individual report on the expedition to pass the whole of the Expedition Section of the Award.
Once complete they will be moving onto the Silver Award (a 3 day expedition in more challenging countryside)
