Over the weekend of the 22 – 23 June 27 cadets from the Squadron completed phase 1 of their Bronze Duke of Edinburghs Expedition, navigation with all equipment needed to live in the field for two days in the rural countryside around Harlow and Epping without staff being present in the their groups. The expedition also included overnight camping and cooking all their meals as part of the assessment. The culmination of 8 weeks of training under the control of CIs Luke Benjafield and Dan Burgess, the expedition had the usual interesting navigation and route finding! Although there was overnight rain all the groups finished on time, with several groups setting new record times for travesing the routes. The Assessors now await their reports so they can pass phase 2 of the expedition!
