BTEC Success

On the evening of the Squadron 70th Anniversary Dinner a number of cadets where presented by their BTECs in Public Service by Wg Cmdr Naeem, OC London Wing. The BTECs, the equivalent of 4 GCSE’s at A* to C grades, are avaialable to cadets over 16 who have carried out a programme of cadet activities over the last 18 months from JNCO courses to Duke of Edinburgh awards; from sports to first aid. There were also two sets of written assessments that the NCOs’ needed to complete. The written assessment compliments the practical activities and a research based project which allows the cadets to get a better understanding of what a career in the Armed Forces is about. The syllabus has been designed to improve life skills. The NCO’s have learnt professional CV preparation, interviewing techniques, communication, first aid, adventure training, health and nutrition, all skills and knwoledge vital in all walks of life. The photo shows Sgt Yasmin Gachette, Sgt Luke Thompson, Sgt Luke Benjafield, Wg Cmdr Naeem, Cpl Nick Shellock, Cpl Dan Burgess and Sgt Robin Shaw.
