Busy start to the New Year

Over the first weekend back from the Xmas break the Sqn was active in a number of areas. On the Saturday cadets attended the first L98 shoot of the year at Ash Ranges with FS Chavner requalifying for his region marksman. Meanwhile cadets from the Leading Class were being assessed on their First Aid Skills as part of their Youth First Aid Award with each cadet undergoing three practical assessments dealing with an unconscious casualty, an injured casualty and a casualty who had stopped breathing. Those that passed will be eligable to wear the Red First Aid badge and will be able to deal with real life injuries and accidents. Meanwhile Cpl Kretovs was enjoying the delights of a snowhole at 2000 feet in the Scotish Mountains as part of a winter mountaineering course as part of his continuing training towards mountaineering qualifications. On the Sunday the OC attended the Wing Conference where the year ahead is mapped out, which included a key note addresss from the Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty.
