Cadet goes Solo

Cadet Sefan Outzen has just returned from a weeks course at Weathersfield Airfield where he has gone solo on the Viking Glider, before he can drive a car! Having passed his Gliding Induction Course recebtly he was nominated and accepted for the course with 614 Volunteer Gliding Squadron. In spite of the typical english summer weather Stefan mastered the skills of powerless flight, including take off, the circuit, and landing (usually the hardest skill to master) to go solo and fly a circuit in a £30,000 glider on his own. He was assisted by Plt Off Myles Webb who is 241s Adjutant and a Gldiing Instructor at 614 VGS. Stefan said “This was a great course and to go solo was a fantastic achievement. I would like to thank the staff at the VGS for all their work in getting to solo standard”.
