3 Cadets from the Sqn have recently had the privilege of attending Nationally organsied leadership courses at MOD Stafford, Staffs and CTC Frimley Park, Surrey.
The Stafford Course is run for the Air Cadets, and Frimley Park for cadets from all three services.
Sgt Mike Cross, Cpl Sophie Figgins and Sgt Dave Zealander all passed the courses, and Cpl Figgins report is below:
"Air Cadet Leadership Course – MOD Stafford
On the 22nd of July I began my ACLC at MOD Stafford. Throughout the days that followed we completed a total of 30 command tasks as well as orienteering exercises, drill, a log run and general physical training. The difficulty of the tasks built up as the week progressed, which made it much more challenging due to a lack of sleep, and in my case the extreme heat!
Each person in each Flight of ten has the chance to lead 3 command tasks. The final command task is much more difficult than the first, which tested how much we had learnt and how greatly we had improved.
This week has taught me many valuable skills and techniques to develop the way in which I lead. It was extremely enjoyable and I have met lots of new people who have helped me through this week, and I am sure I will stay in touch with all of them.
I would definitely recommend applying for this course as it was not only a chance to develop leadership, but a week filled with fun and enjoyment. I passed the course and was one of two in my Flight to receive a merit which I was very pleased with".
