Cadet gets his Wings!

Cpl Domonic Spence has returned from a weeks Glding Scholarship Course at Weathersfield Airfield with a set of Glider Pilot Wings. Cpl Spence was selected for the course and after passing a medical spent 9 days at 614 Volunteer Glider Squadron learning to fly the Grob Viking T1 Glider. Launched by a cable and winch the Glider can reach an altitude of 1800 feet enabling a flight of 7 – 8 minutes in the circuit. Instructed by volunteer Air Cadet staff Dominc learned how to launch, fly the circuit and land the glider over a series of 40 launches. Inspite of unhelpful weather, with two days of high winds he was able to reach the standard required for the award of his Blue GS Wings by the OC of 614VGS. Cpl Spence said “this was a great course which I recommend to all cadets and I would like to thank all the instructors at the school for their instruction”.
