Cadets kept busy!

On the weekend of 20 – 21 March the Sqn was active as usual with the Shooting Team at Stoney Castle Ranges with 82, 344, 1838 Sqns and Middlesex Wing, starting the 2010 season on the Cadet Target Rifles firing at 300 metres in preparation for the Cadet Rifle Meeting at Bisley in July. On the same day Cpl Ross Graham had the honour of carrying the Corps Banner at the RAF Church St Clement Dane in the Strand as part of the annual service marking the formation of the RAF in 1918. In front of an audience of high ranking RAF officers and other dignitaries he and his escorts, Cpl Darren Southcott and Cpl Nick Shellock won plaudits from the RAF SNCO from the Queens Colour Sqn for their bearing and drill during the service ( for more info).

Meanwhile NCOs Luke Thompson, Jess Murphy, Luke Benjafield, Angelica Cooney and Hollie Fox where on London Wing Senior and Junior NCO Courses at 329 Sqn. Designed to give the cadets professional training to enable them to carry out their role as leaders and ! role models on the Sqn Jessica achieved a rare Distinction and Angelica a merit. Jess said “I though the SNCO course was genuinely really really good!it wasn’t death by power point at all, they really got us interacted lots of discussions and i really felt like i learnt a lot of new things on this course especially about teaching skills and planning lessons. I think any one who did this course could really take a lot away from it and i felt the instructors were really good, very open to different ideas”.
