Two of the Squadron’s Cadet NCOs have passed selection weekends to earn a place each on the most ardous courses available to Cadets in all three services, the Air Cadet Junior Leaders (JL) Course and the Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course (QAIC). Each is challenging in different ways, with JL focusing on leadership in Field conditions and QAIC on Aerpsoace and Avaiation knowledge and instruction. Both take part over 9 months with 8 weekends of training followed by a Test Week in April 2013. These courses are emphatically not “attendance only”, but demand that the candidates dig deep in leadership, teamwork, and effort to be able to pass out and gain the coverted Purple or Blue lanyards on graduation. Cdt FS Chris Raj (left) (JL) and Cpl Gideon Goldsmith (QAIC) each had to pass a rigourous selection weekend to gain one of the limited places on each course. The OC, Sqn Ldr Godden said “it is an excellent result to be selected for these courses, and the Sqn wishes both candidates all the best in what are dammed hard courses. They will come back more rounded and qualified cadets able to take an active part in the running of 241 Sqn”.
