10 cadets have had the opportunity to fly with the RAF at RAF Wyton on the Tutor aerobatic trainer on Saturday 12 February, with cadets from 12F (Walthamstow) Sqn. For a large number of the cadets it was their first time flying with the Cadets and they were able to take control of the aircraft in flight under the supervision of an RAF Pilot. For the more experienced cadets the opportunity was available to try the thrill of aerobatics and to learn how to fly the basic manoevers of rolls, loops and stall turns. Cdt Norphwatt said of his first flight “It was great and what I joined for!”. On the Sunday cadets went Glding at Weathersfield Airfield, and although the weather was very poor Cdts Russell-White and Mullings managed to get a launch each in a Viking Glider before rain stopped play. They are eager to return in March when hopefully the weather will be better and allow completion of their GIC Certificates.
