Innes Sword Competition

Our Inness sword team spent the weekend at Crowborough Training Camp battling it out against 25 other Squadrons from London Wing for this prestigious trophy. The competition runs all weekend and is a test of the team’s core military skills.

Unfortunately we did not win this year, only coming second. Whilst a disappointment, the Team can take pride in their hard work and effort over the last 6 weeks and during the competition. Congratulations must be given to 12F (Leyton and Walthamstow) Sqn for winning and good luck to them next weekend at the Elworthy Sword Competition.

For the first year the Sqn also entered a B Team who were competing for Honours, but would have been placed a creditable 9th

The A Team was led by Sgt Bhadresha and had the following members:

Sgt Sandhu
Cpl Fothergill
Cpl Ferrari
Cdt Channon
Cdt Lawrence
Cdt Dutch J
Cdt Dawson

Out of eight events the team won one, the full positions are as follows:

Navigation – 1st
Assault Course – 2nd (3.02.03)
Drill – 2nd (694/800)
Observation – 2nd
First Aid – 5th
Shooting – 9th
Speed March – 11th
Command Task – 22nd (oh dear!)

Our overall score was 162 (7 points less than last year).

12F Sqn got 169 and 46F & 1475 Sqns came joint 3rd with 160

The photo of the A Team says it all! But we look foward to the 2008 Competition with a desire to regain the 1st place!

However we did win the Wing Commanders Challenge, with the Team of Plt Off Davies (who was somewhat unwell), Sgt Sandhu, Cpl Fothergill and Cdt Dutch winning the Assault Course Run against some stiff competition!
