Last weekend was London Wing’s annual Inness Sword Competition, this year held at Pirbright. The Inness Sword is one London Wing’s premier competitions, where Squadrons enter a team to compete over two days in various military skills. This year 22 Squadrons took part in the hope of winning this prestigious trophy and going on to represent London Wing at the Elworthy Sword Competition in October.
Unfortunately we did not win this year; instead we again came a very commendable second. Whilst obviously a disappointment, the team can take a lot pride in the hard work and effort they put in, during both training and the competition.
Congratulations to 1838 (Elm Park) Sqn for winning and good luck to them at the Elworthy Sword Competition. Out of eight events the team won four, the full positions are as follows:
Drill, Assault Course, Orienteering and Shooting – First
Command Task 7th, First Aid 12th, Observation 12th and Strecher Race 14th
The team look forward to the 2011 Competition with a bigger desire to regain the 1st place and bring back the sword!
