10 Cadets and 1 Officer from the Squadron attended the annual Jack Petchy Award Ceremony at the Camden Centre in London on Thursday 22 Jan. These Awards where instituted by Jack Petchy OBE, a successful self made East End Businessman.
Established in 1999, The Jack Petchey Foundation gives grants to programmes and projects that benefit young people aged 11-25. The Foundation is eager to help young people take advantage of opportunities and play a full part in society. The major focus of their work is the Achievement Award Scheme. The Foundation focuses on London and Essex. Since it has been established the Foundation has awarded grants totalling over £50million
241 Sqn, due to its strength currently awards 12 awards and 1 Leader award annually. The Outstanding Achievement Award is awarded each month to the Best Cadet in each Flight on a 4 monthly rolling programme, giving each Flight 4 awards a year. Each Award is worth £300 and the Cadet gets to choose what equipment for the Squadron to spend the money for. A Certificate is also awarded to them.
Each year the winners are presented with their medallions at a special ceremony in front of their parents and friends.
