Cpl Luke Benjafield has succesfully completed the International Four Day Marches at Nijmegen (or Vierdaagse)in Holland, only the second time a cadet from 241 Sqn has ever attempted this gruelling challenge.
This is the largest marching event in the world. It is organised every year in Nijmegen in mid-July as a means of promoting sport and exercise. Participants walk 30, 40 or 50 kilometers daily, and, on completion, receive a royally approved medal (Vierdaagsekruis). The participants are mostly civilians, but there are also several thousand military participants.
Luke was part of the London Wing Team and trained long and hard to complete this grueling physical and mental challenge. He stated ” it was a great experience and as much a mental challenge as a physical one, I am training for next year already, and aim to have more cadets from 241 with me!”
