A report from Cadet Hollie Fox on the recent Rock Climbing event in the Peak District
“Over the May bank holiday, 16 Cadets had the opportunity to go Rock Climbing in the Peak District. Day one saw the group split into two. The more senior cadets took the opportunity to grab a Quality Mountain Day in preparation for doing their silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh’s this summer, while the younger cadets set off for a day of climbing at Stanage. The weather held up, and bright skies and warm temperatures set a good mood.
Day two had everyone climbing, and with only a tiny spot of rain we managed to climb 4-6 different routes ranging in levels. We then went on to try out bouldering! The weekend was challenging and scary, yet fun and full-filling. And a weekend that cannot be missed next time! Thanks to all the staff for organising this trip. Definitely one of the best I’ve been on with the squadron!”
