Cadets from the Squadron have spent the first two weeks of November collecting for the annual Poppy Appeal in Woodford and Loughton supporting two different Royal British Legion Branches. Practically every cadet has been involved in the collections which saw a new record collection of £7640 for the Loughton Branch and £391 for the Woodford Brach, a total of over £8000. This is a major effort on the part of the Squadron for this worthy charity which supports serving and ex servicemen and women of the Armed Forces who are veterans of all British wars since the First World War. Several Cadets collected over £100 individually, with the top three collectors being Cdt Gupta – £208, Cdt Ogunade – £151 and Cdt Sohail Z – £146. The British Legion Poppy Appeal Officer stated ” This is an excellent effort by the Cadets and I would like to thank them for all their hard work”. The photos show Cadets Chavner and Clarke-Magee at work in Loughton High Road and Sgt Cheah running the counting and administration of the collection tins at the RBL HQ.
