For the last 15 years 241 (Wanstead & Woodford) Squadron has collected in the Woodford and Loughton areas for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, which raises money for ex service personel and their famillies who need help and rescources to meet their needs which result from their service to their country. Today, more than ever, this help is vital to the welfare of these brave people.
This year the Squadron has broken all pervious records by raising a huge £6200 for the two Legion Areas. This involved Door to Door Collections, Street Collections and collections at Underground Stations. This money has been raised by the Cadets themselves getting out there and doing their bit to do something practical pay off the debt of gratitude that is owed to those who need their help.
In the last 5 years the Squadron has raised over £25,000 for the Legion and, as a result of these efforts and those streching back to 1991 during which time a further £25,000 has been raised, has been adopted by the Loughton Branch of the British Legion.
