Presentation Evening

On a cold evening of the 09 Decemeber the Sqn held its annual presentation evening at Trinity School. An occasion to showcase the unit to local dignitaries and parents, as well as present the cadets with various awards achieved during 2010, this years guests included Wg Cmdr Sylvie Silver, OC London Wing.

The cadets gave presentations on the years activities, with Cpl Askhay Mandalia and Sgt Jess Murphy giving an excellent talk on the Sqn trip to Oman (given in Omani tradition dress!) and Cpl Chris Raj and Cdt Isobel Hulbert giving a presentation on the cadets activities over the last year. After a break Wg Cmder Silver warded a number of First Aid certificates, Bronze DoE Badges, Flying and Navigation Scholarships and six Public Service BTEC worth 4 GCSE’s. The Loughton British Legion then presentated the Poppy Shield to Sgt Luke Benjafield for raising £300 in 2009 and Cdt Aditi Gupta for raising £200 in 2010 for the Poppy Appeal.

The Best Sportsperson Trophy was then presented to Sgt Luke Benjafield for his achievements in Rugby, the Best Exam Results was Cpl Oliver Diamond, Best Junior Shot, Cdt Harry Chavner, and Best Senior Shot Cpl Chris Raj. The Best Recruit was Cdt Timothy Robson, The Best Cadet was Cdt Isobel Hulbert and the Best Flight was won by 3 Flight, commanded by Sgt Yasmin Gachette. The Sqn OC, Sqn Ldr Godden also presented the Wing Commander with a Sqn plaque to thank her for her work with the Wing and Sqn over the last five years, ahead of her retirement in February 2011.
