On a freezing evening on the 06 December the Sqn held its annual presentation evening at Trinity School. An occasion to showcase the unit to local dignitaries and parents, as well as present the cadets with various awards achieved during 2012, this years guests included Lee Scott MP, the Sqn President, and Colonel Acda, the Lord Lieutenant for London representative in the London Borough of Redbridge.
The cadets gave presentations on the years activities, with Sgt Arina Purzikova and Cpl Harry Chavner giving a talk on what cadets can expect to do in their first year on the Sqn, FS Akshay Mandalia on his International Air cadet Exchange to Holland in the summer, and CWO Robin Shaw and FS Chris Raj on their expedition to Tanzania in February. There were also a number of static displays and the Civilian Committee provided refreshments.
Colonel Acda warded a number of Bronze and Silver DoE Badges and First Aid Certificates and Lee Scott Gliding Scholarships, and Aviation BTECs worth 2 GCSE’s. Cpl Max Lungu and Cdt Stepahn Outzen were awarded Region Commendations for assisiting the Police at an incident on their way home from the Sqn. The Poppy Shield for the highest amount of money raised for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal to Cdt George Leonti for raising £282.
The Best Sportsperson Trophy, the Tom Curry Trophy, was then presented to Cpl Julia Muscas for her achievements in sport, the Best Exam Results was Ashar Shahid, Best Junior Shot, Cdt Stepehn Raj, and Best Senior Shot Cpl Max Lungu. The Best Recruit was Cdt Joe Murphy, the Best Cadet was Cpl Tom Bean and the Best Flight was won by 1 Flight commanded by CWO Izzy Hulbert.
