The Sqn deployed 85 Cadets and Staff to Longmoor Training Camp in Hampshire over the weekend on 27 – 29 March to carry out a wide variety of practical training. Normally carried out at Crowborough, a last minute cancellation of this facility forced a quick change to an area last used in 2005. This tested the Exercise staff before and during the exercise to reogranise the basic format used at Crowborough to a unfamiliar area with new challenges and opportunities.
Cadets of 59 and 60 Recruit Flights carried out basic training including Obstacles Courses, Drill, Leadership training and a Night Navigation Exercise with all of the cadets passing the course and being awarded their coverted Black Witch Flash. Cadets from 1830 (Clacton) Sqn also attended courtesy of Plt Off Andy Webb RAF, a Service Helper and ex 241 Sqn Cadet.
Other cadets deployed to the Training Area, to carry out Fieldcraft Training under the auspices of ACP16 in a challenging and robust environment with several phases of training to cater for various experience levels. All these cadets had to erect personal shelters know as Bashas to sleep out in, cook and eat compo rations as well as navigate around the area carrying out various tasks. On hand to assist was 2Lt Matt Davies, Royal Artillery another ex cadet from 241.
The photos show cadets on the Camp Obstacle Course, carrying out an evacuation exercise with strechers, the Field Cadets recieving a breifing for the next objective of the exercise, and cadets crossing a water obstacle as part of the bridge building exercise.
