On Sunday 09 Nov the Squadron paraded at 3 separate locations for the annual act of remembrance, made more poignant by the knowledge at least one ex cadet is currently on active service in Afghanistan, and the recent inscription of ex cadet Tom Curry’s name on Wanstead War memorial, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in early 2007.
Around two thirds of the Cadets paraded at Loughton British Legion and marched to the Town War Memorial for a service and then marched through the High Street with cadets from 2324 (Chigwell) Sqn, the British Legion and other youth groups. The salute was taken by Air Commodore Murray RAF who was brought up in Loughton (the photo shows the Banner party passing Air Commodore Murray) and the Local MP Eleanor Laing.
The other third paraded at Wanstead War Memorial with the Police Cadets and Wanstead British Legion for the act of remembrance.
CWO Dent was honoured to be party of the official Air Cadet Contingent at Whitehall in London, who were seen on BBC1 smartly marching past the Cenotaph (the third time that weekend that cadets had been on the BBC and CWO Dent’s second time!)
