Sqn wins the Wing Field Day

On Saturday 29 September the Squadron attended Woolwich Garrison to compete against the other Squadrons in the London Wing Field Day in a wide range of activities including Drill, Banner Drill, Aircraft Recognition, Aero Modelling, Band and Photography. After a hard fought competition the Squadron retained the Field Day Trophy for the best overall Sqn in the Wing for the second year running, and won the Banner Drill (Cpl Goldsmith and his team), Aircraft Recognition (FS Mandalia, Cpl Spence, Cdt Robson and Cdt Monadhass, with Cdt Robson having the higest individual score in the Wing), and the Solo Bugler (Cdt Robson, with trumpet in the photo). The Fanfare Team came second and Cpl Goldsmith came second in the over 16 aeromodelling. FS Bliss came third in the Drill Commander competition, and the Sqn came third in the Inspection phase of the drill with an overall position in the Drill of fourth. The Sqn OC commented “this was a great performance by the Cadets on the Squadron who have trained hard for this event under WO Phil Wright, and it is gratifying to retain the Field Day Trophy (especially as I forgot to bring it back to the event this year!) and also gives us a spur to do better in in 2013 in those events where we didnt do so well”.
