Over the weekend of the 23 – 24 June 57 cadets from the Squadron, the largest bronze expedition the Sqn has ever mounted, completed phase 1 of their Bronze Duke of Edinburghs Expedition, navigation with all equipment needed to live in the field for two days in the rural countryside around Harlow and Epping without staff being present in the their groups. The expedition also included overnight camping and cooking all their meals as part of the assessment. The culmination of 8 weeks of training under the control of CI Dan Burgess, the expedition was on of the smoothest for many years! Although there was overnight rain, and showers (some heavy) on the Sunday, all the groups finished on time, with several groups setting record times for travesing the routes. The Assessors now await their reports so they can pass phase 2 of the expedition!
