Two Cadets from the Sqn have been selected as the Top Cadets in London and South East Region and now go forward to represent us in the Dacre Sword and Broach competitions to find the best female and male cadet in the UK. CWO Ajvir Sandhu and Cdt FS Alexandra Dutch face a gruelling interview at RAF Cranwell together with 10 cadets from the other 5 Regions. To be chosen is no mean achievement; it is the culmination of a cadet career in which the individual has achieved above and beyond the normal achievements offered by the ATC, and where they have put a significant amount back into the Corps, Sqn and local community. Ajvir and Alex both hold a Flying Scholarship, Gliding Wings, Gold DoE Award, BTEC in Public Services and have shot at Bisley on the Cadet Target Rifle, but to give a full resume of their achievement would take more space than available! The Sqn Commander, Sqn Ldr Jerry Godden said “this is a signal honour for the Squadron to achieve both Regional nominations in the same year, and is the second time the Squadron has achieved this double, with CWOs Paul Fothergill and Kristina Pisano being nominated in 2008. This shows the quality of the cadets that are in the Squadron and what young people can achieve in the ATC if they are prepared to take full advantage of its opportunities. Both of our cadets are excellent examples of the best of British youth”.
